CT Scanning


This stands for computerised tomography. It consists of a number of x-ray’s being taken while you lie down and enter a tunnel which is the scanner. The scan gives detailed images of structure of the body. They are used mainly to look for solid tumours in the pelvis and abdomen. They are also used to look at the brain for tumours and also signs of stroke. They are widely used in trauma when damage to organs is suspected.
